Nar Phu Valley trek, special and popular trekking destination though newly opened trail situated in Annapurna region of Nepal. The main attraction of this trek is it provides an opportunity to explore into two hidden remote valleys i.e Nar and Phu located at the upper Mustang districts. This trail is also known as “Hidden Valley Trek of Nepal”. During the trail, we can have an amazing view of Annapurna massif, Langtang, Pisang, Chulus, Manaslu, Kangru and other various peaks including peaceful forest, glaciers, narrow canyon and rock formations backed up by the remote valley. The trail takes us to The Kang La Pass (5306m), highest point of the trail. Though this trail is one of the beautiful destination but it is challenging as well and very few trekkers had successes but those who succeed had a lifetime achievement.
The Phu valley is rich in its cultural aspect as it holds great importance for Buddhist pilgrims. Most of the people visit here to Thashi Gompa so to receive blessings from Lama Rinpoche. People here follow unique Hiamalayan culture. Most of the people are Gurung, Lama and Tamang. Trekkers will get chance to experience their unique culture and their lifestyle. The best time to visit this trail is on March – May and September- December. Great Vision provides required Nar Phu valley trek itinerary with nar phu valley trek map. We will spent some time in nar and phu valleys of nepal. We will provide best hotels in nar phu valley for the trekkers.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and Transfer to the hotel
When you land Kathmandu in Tribhuvan Internation aiport, you will be welcomed by a representative from Great Vision Trek. First we complete your Visa and other custom formalities; you will be transferred to the hotel organized by Great Vision along with your luggage. You then check in and take rest or you can visit our office and hang around as per your interest. You stay overnight at Kathmandu.
Day 2: City Tour and Preparation for trek
Today, we tour to heritage sites at Kathmandu. We start a guide tour from your hotel to four heritage site in Kathmandu which is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. First we visit to Pashupatinath Temple situated in Gausala and banks of Bagmati River where Aryaghat, famous funeral site for Hindus lies. After sightseeing, we visit to Boudhanatha, the Buddhists shrine which is one of the largest stupa in the world. Boudhhanath is one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimages that include over 50 Tibetan Gompas or monasteries and popular tourist destination. Tour leads to Kathmandu Durbar Square also known as Basantapur holds the medieval king’s palaces who had ruled over Kathmandu Kingdom once. Our last tour will be Swayambhu (the self-existent) which is one of the famous touristic areas where we find large number of monkey population. After sightseeing, we go back to you hotel and you can take rest and prepare for trekking.
Day 3: Drive from kathamandu to Bhulbhule
Next morning, after you have a delicious breakfast, we drive from Kathmandu to Bhulbhule by bus.
Day 4: Trek from Bhulbhule to Jagat
After we reach Bhulbhule, we take rest and begin our trek to Jagat. We walk through down the Trishuli river experiencing green hills, Farming terraces, mountains, etc. Walking for about 8 to 9 hours takes us to Jagat where we stay overnight and have dinner.
Day 5: Trek from Jagat to Dharapani (1860m)
After breakfast, the trail climbs up through the rocky forest leading to Tibetan tiny Village Chamje. Walking for 5 to 6 hours through wheat, potato and barley fields, pine forest, the trail takes us to Dharapani, big Tibetan village where we stay overnight.
Day 6: Trek from Dharapani to Koto (2600m)
After breakfast, we walk across the steep forest ridge with different landscape experiencing sensational views of Annapurna II, Annapurna IV and Lamjung, we head towards Koto (2600m).
Day 7: Trek from Koto to Meta (3560m) (Methang)
After breakfast, we leave koto behind and head towards Meta (3560m) also known as Methang through forest and across the silent river. We stay overnight and have delicious dinner.
Day 8: Trek from Meta to Phu (4080m): 7-8 hours
Phu is the destination set for today so we wake up early and after breakfast continue our trail walking up and down the hills, cross suspension bridge and ascend to Lower and Upper Chyako. After passing the settlement area, we head to Khampa then to entrance gate that takes us to the hidden valley Phu. The valley is widened and well maintained. We stay overnight at the Hotel and take delicious dinner.
Day 9: Rest day
We take rest today and explore the Phu valley. We will climb the pass and go for hiking. We explore the unique culture of the people living in the village. At night, we head back to the Hotel and have dinner.
Day 10: Trek from Phu to Naar (4110m)
After breakfast, we pass through many suspension bridge till we reach Mahendra pul that takes about 4 hours. We head towards the high suspension bridge over Gorge of Lapche River taking us to Nar village. We can visit many monasteries and view peaks including Pisang. We stay overnight here.
Day 11: Rest day at Naar (4110m)
We take rest today and explore the Nar valley. We will climb the pass and go for hiking. We explore the unique culture of the people living in the village. At night, we head back to the Hotel and have dinner.
Day 12: Trek from Naar to Nawal (3660m)
We wake up early and after breakfast continue our trail to Nawal (3660m) through Kang La pass (5322m). During the trek, we visit Kang La Phedi, number of landslide areas, wide level valley, yak pasture, Chulus waterfall, etc. We stay overnight here.
Day 13: Trek from Nawal to Manang
After breakfast, we head towards Manang through Paugh, an isolated village experiencing beautiful Annapurna range. Walking for about 4 to 5 hours through Mungli and Annapurna trail, we will reach at Manag. We stay overnight here.
Day 14: Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4110m)
From Manang village, the path crosses a stream, climbs to a village of Tenki higher than Manang, and so continues to climb out of the Marshyangdi valley turning northwest ups the valley of Jarsang Khola. The path follows this valley northward, passing many pastures, a scrub of juniper trees, because it steadily gains elevation. The path more passes close to the little village of Ghunsa, a cluster of flat mud roofs just under the rootage. Now the path goes through meadows where horses and yaks graze. After crossing atiny low stream on a wooden bridge, the path passes associate ancient previous Mani wall in nice grassland and so reaches another tiny village of Yak Kharka. Overnight at Yak Kharka.
Day 15: Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4600m)
Our destination for today is Throng Phedi, tiny busy settlement for the tired trekkers and climbers. Trekkers like us use this point as a base camp. Some guests additionally try a hike to the High Camp today so the next day will be easier for them. But, himalayan Glacier's team leader doesn't advise this. Though we are going to have a troublesome day tomorrow, we stop at Thorong Phedi so we are able to have sound sleep in lower altitude instead of risking sleeping in an exceedingly higher altitude at High Camp. We stay overnight at Phedi.
Day 16: Trek from Thorong Phedi (4600m) to Muktinath (3800m)
Crossing the arduous Thorong La Pass at a dizzying height of 5,416m/17,764ft is another highlight of this trek. an early begin is very important to travel through the icy high-altitude path. However the picturesque mountain vistas are over compensates the strenuous practice the toilsome path. We reach Muktinath by sunset that is a vital journey site for each Hindus and Buddhist. We can stroll round the area that hosts a vishnu temple and a monastery near.
Day 17: Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom
We descend down to the Kali Gandaki Gorge and pass Jharkot and Khingar villages, a typical Tibetan architecture and head towards Jomsom. We stay overnigh here.
Day 18: Flight from Jomsom to Pokhara
We take a flight from Jomsom to Pokhara which is about 30 minutes flight. After we reach Pokhara we head to Hotel and rest.
Day 19: Drive back from Pokhara to Kathmandu
After breakfast, we take a local bus and head towards Kathmandu which is about 5 to 6 hours drive. After we reach Kathmandu, you are taken to the Hotel where you will have delicious traditional dinner and rest.
Day 20: Final Departure
This is your last day in Kathmandu so you can enjoy your meal, go shopping before flight. Our representative with driver will take you to the airport for departure.
