Mera Peak (6,476m) situated at Hinku valley to the north part of Nepal is known as the highest trekking peak in Nepal. Though it is one of the most demanding and challenging but technically it is an easy climb so one can have an excellent first peak climb without other climbing experience. For this, we provide necessary training and workout before climbing the peak. The other attraction of this trekking is we can have a magnificent summit view of Mt Everest (8,848m), Mt Kanchenjunga (8,586m), Mt Makalu (8,463m), Mt Cho Oyu (8,201m) and Mt Lhotse (8,516m).
The trekking starts with a exciting flight to Phaplu in Solukhumbu. During the trek,we pass through terraced landscape of Nepal foothills across small and beautiful villages where most of the hardy Sherpa’s are inhabited. Crossin g two high passes we reach to Hinku Valley which has large settlement area. Finally from Hinku to Khare we reach Mera Peak where we make our base camp. The altitude is low ascending snow slopes that rarely cross over 30 degrees. We can experience unforgettable sunrise view on Kanchenjunga and Everest from the upper slopes of Mera Peak. We will also have outstanding views of watershed areas, magnificient natural landscape, wild and heavily wooded valleys of Hongu and Hinku, densly forested hills and many more.
To Climb Mera Peak, you must obtain TIMS Card and Park Entry Permit wihch is provided by Great Vision Trek
Mera Peak lies at the high altitude so the temperatures are usually low. During winter season the temperature gets extreme low and snowfalls in the higher altitude while in summer season it gets cool and temperate when the sun rise respectively gets cold and chilly after the sun sets. During rains, the climate is usually cold. October- November, December- February and March- May is the best time to visit this region. During spring and fall, Mountaineering expedition takes place.
You can access to Mera peak, Everest region by air or on foot. By air, you fly to Lukla which is 30 minute flight, served by many airlines from Kathmandu. You can take bus from Old Bus Park near Ratna Park; Kathamandu that takes you to jiri which is 10 hour drive and walk for 2-3 days leads you to Lukla. There is a good facility for hotels, resorts, lodges with tea houses along the trekking trails. During the trail, you can get chance to experience camping site and options.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m) and transfer to the Hotel
When you land Kathmandu in Tribhuvan Internation aiport, you will be welcomed by a representative from Great Vision Trek. First we complete your Visa and other custom formalities; you will be transferred to the hotel organized by Great Vision along with your luggage. You then check in and take rest or you can visit our office and hang around as per your interest. You stay overnight at Kathmandu.
Day 2: Preparation day for trip
You take rest and relax today and prepare for trekking.
Day 3: Fly to Lukla and trek to Paiya, Chutok (2,730m): 5-6 hours trek
We will take early morning flight from Kathmandu (1400m). There are many flights for Lukla (2840 m). The flight duration from Kathmandu to Lukla is approximately 35 minutes. After we reach Lukla, we take rest for an hour while our guides and local porters prepare for the trip. The trail first heads towards Surke through the jungle. Exoeriencing forest of fir, pine, birches and rhododendron along with traditional village, we will reach our today’s destination to Paiya. We stay overnight here in a tented camp.
Day 4: Trek from Paiya to Pangkongma (2,846m): 5-6 hours
Pangkoma is the destination set for the day. We’ve got our breakfast and departure Paiya, we walk all the way down to the wood bridge that continues on a slippery path up to Kari La Pass. After crossing the pass, the slim trail in the course of the forest of bush and bamboo and also the stunning mountain views of the mountain takes us to the village of Pangkoma. The night will be spent at a populate Pangkoma.
Day 5: Trek from Pangkongma to Nashing Dingma (2,591m): 4-5 hours
Nigmsa is the destination set for the day. After a decent breakfast, we follow the rocky path that 1st leads us to the forest of rhododendron and continues through the hills and ridges, past a Mani wall, enjoying the south face of Mera Peak. We then walk right down to the village for lunch and continue on a zigzag path through the forest of pine and bush and descend to urge to the destination, Nigmsa. The night will be spent during a tented camp at Nigmsa.
Day 6: Trek from Nashing Dingma to Chhatra Khola (2,800m): 7-8 hours
Chhatra khola is the destination set for the day. After leaving Nigmsa behind, the path gets steep and slender as we withstand the standard trail. The path gets a lot of difficult as we enter the forest of rhododendron and bamboo and also the landslide space to urge to the clear stream. As we reach the stream, we walk straight ahead, through the shrub forest, where lucky ones will encounter some wild animals. We then walk right down to pass a pleasant stone cave by the river, create our approach through the bamboo forest and continue until Chhatra khola. The night will be spent in a tented camp at Chhatra khola.
Day 7: Trek from Chhatra Khola to Kothe (3,691m): 6-7 hours
Kothe is the destination set for the day. Early morning chirping birds’ song will wake us up and then we quickly grab a beautiful breakfast and depart for Kothe. As the walk continues, we reach one of the most effective vantage points of the Hinku valley that presents us the grandeur of Mother Nature. We continue on a slender path through the forest of pine and bamboo that shelter mountain wild animals like bear, and jungle cat. After passing Tashing Dingma, we stop for lunch at one among the teahouses on the route and so continue on the ridge of the river all the high to Kothe. The night will be spent at a domiciliate Kothe.
Day 8: Trek from Kothe to Thaknak (4,358m): 3-4 hours
Tanknak is the destination set for the day, an excellent place for enjoying and exploring the views of beautiful peaks as well as Mera North. Tanknak is a summer village with primitive lodges a couple of tea homes and is barely 3-4 hour aloof from Kothe. Leaving Kothe, we ascend step by step on the ridge of the Hinku river. We stop for lunch at Gondishung. We then visit a two hundred year-old Lungsumgba Gompa that is on the thanks to Tanknank. We pay it slow exploring the monastery. After a brief walk from the monastery the trail takes us to Tanknak. The night will be spent at a populate Tanknak.
Day 9: Trek from Thaknak to Khare (5,045m): 2-3 hours
Khare is the destination set for the day. We currently head east towards Khare, following the lateral moraine of the Dig glacier to a pasture known as Dig Kharka. The rugged path then passes through the lateral earth up to the snout of Hinku Nup and Shar glacier. From here ahead, we follow a way vessel path till we reach the camping area at Khare. Each the path and therefore the camping area gift the unforgettable views of the cover mountains. The night will be spent in a very tented camp at Khare.
Day 10: Acclimatization and pre–climb training in Khare
Today, we will rest and explore Khare area. Next day is going to be tough one so we will have necessary climbing training so that we gain confidence and have a easy climb coming day.
Day 11: Trek from Khare to Mera High Camp (5,780m): 6-7 hours
Mera Base Camp is the destination of the day. Leaving Khare behind, we march forward following Mera glacier up to the Mera La Pass. Its associate exciting climb and therefore the excellent read from the pass is just rewarding. We then create a brief descent to line up our camp. Upon reaching the bottom camp, we've got our lunch and depart to attend climbing training provided by our climbing guide. Day 12: Trek from Mera High Camp to Summit (6,461m) and walk back to Khare (5045m): 8-9 hours

We begin early, like around 2:30 am within the morning, have our breakfast, prepare with crampons and rope and begin off towards the height. Day 13: Reserve Day for Contingency

If everything goes well, this day will be stop from the itinerary.
Day 14: Trek back from Khare to Kothe (3600m): 4-5 hours
The trail gets back from Khare and walking for about 4 to 5 hours leads us to Kothe enjoying beautiful views of glacier, valley, pasture, rocky paths, etc. We will stay overnight here enjoying and celebrating our success.
Day 15: Trek back from Kothe to Zatrwa La pass (4600 m): 5-6 hours
We walk early morning after having breakfast. After walking for about 5 to 6 hours through rocky path, we will reach Zatrwa La pass (4600m). We will get chance to see beautiful Zatrwa La pass. We stay overnight here.
Day 16: Trek from Zatrwa La pass to Lukla: 6-7 hours
Leaving mountains behind, we departure from Zatrwa La pass and head towards Lukla that takes about 6 to 7 hours. We will take rest and stay overnight at Hotel.
Day 17: Fly back to Kathmandu
In this day, we will have a flight to Kathmandu before that you can have shopping, collect souvenirs as per your wish and head to Kathmandu.
Day 18: Day for Final Departure
This is the day of your departure so you can have shopping and celebrate your successful trekking journey. Our representative with driver will take you to airport on time.
