The lower part of Manaslu region lies at Gorkha district in west of Nepal. This part of Manaslu region has recently been developed to promote culture, religion and tourism through home stay programs hosted by local tourism development committees to improve local economy, to empower women and create jobs for the youths. Nowadays the Lower Manaslu Home stay trekking is becoming more popular among the youths, elders and families with children. Accommodation is mostly based on home stay or tented camping as teahouse/lodge facility is limited to only a few places. In home stay, you spend your days with a local host family and immerse yourself in their culture and tradition, interact daily with them, enjoy local meals provided by your host family and practice Nepalese language.
Lower Manaslu area is least crowded as compared to other trekking routes and is ideal for those who want to experience Nepal’s typical village experiences and cultural values. One can visit ethnic villages with friendly home stay, gain spiritual experience, visit various shrines and monasteries, natural caves, rivers, forest, ethnic culture and famous view points. It is moderate trek with 5-6 hours walking a day. The lower part of Manaslu regionis comparatively warmer than upper Manaslu region due to its low level landscape. Temperature remains warm most of the time. One feel cold in the morning and in the evening but during the day time you feel warm. You do not need to wear such as warm jackets when you trek through this Lower part of Manaslu.
The Lower Manaslu Home stay Trekking begins from Kathmandu to Arkhet vai Arughat, progress to MachhaKhola and reach to the Natural Hot Spring, Tatopani of Gorkha district. On the trail you walk through cultivated terraces, rocky hill, suspension bridges observing pleasant waterfalls. Mani stones, Chorten and prayer flags are dotted upper section of Budhi Gandaki valley.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
When you land Kathmandu in Tribhuvan Internation aiport, you will be welcomed by a representative from Great Vision Trek. First we complete your Visa and other custom formalities; you will be transferred to the hotel organized by Great Vision along with your luggage. You then check in and take rest or you can visit our office and hang around as per your interest. You stay overnight at Kathmandu.
Day 02: Drive Kathmandu to Arkhet via Arughat
Next morning, you will have your breakfast then we will drive to Arughat (650m) by a private jeep. From Kathmandu we will have a comfortable drive till Dhading Besi then the road gets bumpy with windy dirt till we reach Arughat. From Arughat, our trail starts leading us to Arkhet. We will saty overninght here.
Day 03: Trek from Arkhet to Machhekhola, along the bank of Budhi Gandaki River
The trail goes to Machhekhola. We walk through the bank of Budhi Gandaki River and visit the beautiful tropical vegetation with thrilling suspension bridges and head towards Machhakola, a pleasant village lying on the slopes of the hill
Day 04: Trek from Machhekhola to Tatopani, (Natural Hot Spring)
After we cross the Machhekhola, we head to a narrow trail leading us to Tatopani (930m), natural hot spring. We rest there for a while and cleanse ourselves there as there is belief that the water in there rinses our grief and pain.
Day 05: Trek from Tatopani to Lapubesi
From Tatopani, we walk up and down the trail till we reach Lapubesi.
Day 06: Trek from Lapubesi to Arughat
We head from Lapubesi to Arughat through Soti Khola. We walk on the rough parts of Budhi Gandaki and climb up and down rocky hills and reach Arughat.
Day 07: Trek from Arughat to Trandrang
We walk through the suspension bridge and head from Arughat to Trandrang.
Day 08: Early morning visit the Tandrangkot Kalika Temple, Sunrise & Manaslu Mountains view
We wake up early morning to have a spectacular sunrise view rising up from the Mt Manaslu. Then we visit Tandrangkot Kalika temple, one of the sacred place of this region.
Day 09: Drive Tandrang to Gorkha Bazaar & visit the historical Gurkha Palace, Gorkhakalika Temple
From Tandrang, we drive to Gorkha Bazaar where we get chance to visit Gorkha Palace. We then head to Gorkhakalika Temple, one of the oldest temple of this region.
Day 10: Drive Gorkha to Kathmandu or Pokhara
Today is the departure day and end of the trail. We will drive back from Gorkha to Kathmandu via Pokhara.
