Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the world’s most popular organized teahouse trekking. This trek allows you to experience culture and lifestyle of the Gurung communities in the Annapurna region. You will walk through beautiful sub tropical valleys, dense forests of rhododendron and icy waterfalls. From every angle during the trek you will enjoy a tantalizing glimpse of Himalayan peaks from Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m.), Mt. Annapurna I (8,091m.), Mt. Machapurhre (Fish Tail) (6993m), Mt. Tukuche (6920m), Mt. Nilgiri ( 6940m), Mt. Hiunchuli (6441m), Mt. Annapurna South (7219m), Mt. Lamjung Himal (6931m) to some other many smaller peaks during the trip. From Poon Hill (3210m.) vantage point you can see the mesmerizing view of sunrise and Himalayan mountain range early in the morning. This entire trekking area is mainly dominated by the Gurungs and Magars both are ethnic people of Nepal. Dense Rhododendron forests,deep sub-tropical valleys, varieties of bird species, age-old tradition and culture, traditional villages, ever-smiling faces of the people, hospitable people and majestic mountain views are the major attractions of this trek.

Ghandruk village provides an insight into the lifestyles of Gurung ethnic community of Nepal. Here, you will see how orderly rows of neat slate- roofed houses are clustered on the canyon wall amidst a complicated network of farming terraces. In addition, you will enjoy with great views of Himalayas that includes Macchapuchre (Fishtail) and Annapurna South. From Pokhara it is just 42 kilometers drive and 5–6 hours in walking distance.

Pothana is another popular village where you will also encounter same Gurung ethnic community like in the Ghandruk village. This village is situated on the ridge of hill from where you can enjoy the spectacular view of Annapurna Himalayan range, Fishtail and green valley of Pokhara.

The itinerary of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek can be made shorter without visiting Ghandruk village. Those who have longer holiday can hike through Ghandruk and end the trip inPokhara. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport, meet our staff then transfers to hotel

When you land Kathmandu in Tribhuvan Internation aiport, you will be welcomed by a representative from Great Vision Trek. First we complete your Visa and other custom formalities; you will be transferred to the hotel organized by Great Vision along with your luggage. You then check in and take rest or you can visit our office and hang around as per your interest. You stay overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu City Sightseeing

Today, we tour to heritage sites at Kathmandu. We start a guide tour from your hotel to four heritage site in Kathmandu which is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. First we visit to Pashupatinath Temple situated in Gausala and banks of Bagmati River where Aryaghat, famous funeral site for Hindus lies. After sightseeing, we visit to Boudhanatha, the Buddhists shrine which is one of the largest stupa in the world. Boudhhanath is one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimages that include over 50 Tibetan Gompas or monasteries and popular tourist destination. Tour leads to Kathmandu Durbar Square also known as Basantapur holds the medieval king’s palaces who had ruled over Kathmandu Kingdom once. Our last tour will be Swayambhu (the self-existent) which is one of the famous touristic areas where we find large number of monkey population. After sightseeing, we go back to you hotel and you can take rest and stay.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara (830m.)

Next morning, we prepare for ride to Pokhara. You can also take flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara as per you want. Flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara is about 30 minutes. You can view outstanding views of snowy peaks during the flight.

Day 04: Drive to Naya Pul (1070m.) and trek Naya Pul to Tikhe Dhunga (1540m.)

This is our first day of trek. We drive to Naya Pul via Pokhara which is about 2 hours drive. After we reach Naya Pul, we start our trail walking through the south bank of Modi River that takes us to Birethanti. The trail leads to Bhurungdi Khola, Sudame, pass Lamdawali and Hile. During the trail we come across a few waterfalls and enjoy the nature. Then we finally reach Tikhe Dhunga which takes about 2 hours walk. We spent our night in a lodge there.

Day 05: Trek Tikhe Dhunga to Ghorepani (2750m.)

After having breakfast in Tikhe Dhunga, our trail begins climbing through a long uphill which has more than 3000 stone steps. Climbing uphill we reach to Ulleri. After we pass Banthani and Nangge Thanti through the Rhododendron and Oak forest, we finally reach our today’s destination, Ghorepani which takes about 5 to 6 hours walk. It is the gateway to Poon Hill where we have the best view of sunrise and we stay our night in Lodge here.

Day 06: Climb Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3210m.) for sunrise view and Annapurna Himal

We wake up early this day so that we can view the first sun ray striking the mountains. We climb up hill to Poon Hill (3193m) where we view the sunrise and take rest in Ghorepani. After the short trek, our trail resumes and we head to the east where we pass across Deurali pass and Ban Thanti. We walk through rhododendron forest that leads to Thulo Odar then we steep descent with a short climb, we reach at Tadapani where we spent a night in the lodge.

Day 07: Trek Tadapani to Ghandruk village (1940m.)

From Tadapani, we head towards Ghandruk village where we stay overnight experiencing their culture and great hospitality.

Day 08: Trek Ghandruk village to Jhinu Danda (1780m.) & relax in Natural Hot Spring

Next morning, we begin our trail up to the Kuldighar passing Sinuwa and reach Chhomrong. We walk downhill which is vertical and finally reach Jhinudada. Here we go to the hot spring bathing pool which takes only about 15 to 20 mins from Jhinu where we rest and relax. We will spend the night here.

Day 09: Trek Jhinu Danda to Pothana (1900m.)

Next day we walk through Pothana where we can explore whitewashed stone houses, temples. Annapurna south and Hiun Chuli.

Day 10: Trek Pothana to Phedi (1130m.) via Dhampus (1650m.) and drive to Pokhara

From Pothana trek heads straight uphill climbing Dhampus village. We pass through small greenery forests during the trail head towards our new challenge. It takes about 3 to 4 hours of walk from Dhampus to Phedi. From Phedi, we drive back to Pokhara.

Day 11: Pokhara City Sightseeing

After we reach Pokhara, we take rest in a hotel and relax. We will have a day to visit and explore this beautiful city. We will visit Phewa lake and go for boating, experience Machhapuchhre near the lake.

Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu

In the morning which is the day to departure, we have our breakfast in the hotel and drive back to Kathmandu which takes about 6 to 7 hours. After we arrive to Kathmandu, you will be taken to the hotel where you can relax and stay overnight.

Day 13: Day reserved for optional activities

You have a day in Kathmandu. You can go for shopping, visit places and have fun and prepare for departure next day.

Day 14: Transfer to international airport for your final departure (Trip ends.)

This is your last day in Kathmandu so you can enjoy your meal, go shopping before flight. Our representative with driver will take you to the airport for departure.
