Kanchenjunga Region at the height of 8,586 m is the second highest peak in Nepal whereas third highest mountain peak in the World. Located in the eastern part of Nepal and on the Nepal- India (North Sikkim) border, there lie three popular peaks: Kanchenjunga Central (8,482m), Kanchenjunga Main (8,586m) and Kanchenjunga South (8,494m). “The Five Treasure of the Great Snows” is the derived form of the name Kanchenjunga (‘Kanchen’ and ‘Dzonga’), a Tibetan word. In the Taplejung District of Nepal, the other remaining peaks Kanchenjuga West (8,505m) also known as Yalung kang and Kangbachen (7,903m) are situated.
